Can I listen to music through the speakers when headphones are connected to the computer? Of course, you can. In fact, you can use any two output devices simultaneously, and in this post, I will show you how to do it.
If you are an expert and do not need detailed instructions, then here are all the necessary steps:
- connect headphones;
- open the sound settings on the PC;
- select the default audio device;
- in the volume mixer, specify the desired parameters;
- select the second audio.
If nothing is clear, then below, I will chew everything.
Connect your speakers and headphones to your computer—Right-click on the sound icon in the tray and select Open sound options. Or run the command on the command line mmsys.cpl
On Windows 11, I recommend the second option, as the logic for working with audio devices has been redesigned in this version of the OS. And through the command, the classic version will open.
In the window that opens, on the Playback tab, select the desired columns and, through the right-click menu, select the item Use default communication device.
Select the Stereo Mix device and go to its properties on the Recording tab.
A new window will open again, where on the Listen tab, there will be a checkbox Listen to from this device. Activate it, and in the drop-down menu Play from this device, select your headphones.
Ready. This completes the entire setup, and the music should play from the speakers with the headphones connected.
