Google explained the removal of the Sberbank application from its store with sanctions.

The removal of the Sberbank application from the Google Play store is due to Google’s compliance with the law on sanctions and trade rules; the company told RIA Novosti.

Earlier Wednesday, Sberbank announced that its mobile app was no longer available for download and updates on the Google Play store due to international sanctions.

Google complies with all applicable sanctions and trade compliance laws. If we detect an app that violates our terms of use, we will take appropriate action” the post reads.

Sberbank came under US and UK blocking sanctions in April. Such restrictions involve freezing the bank’s assets and prohibiting individuals and legal entities from these countries from conducting transactions with it.

On April 12, Sberbank warned that some bank’s mobile applications on iOS are not available for download and update in the App Store due to sanctions. Still, already installed applications work and do not need to be deleted.
